Heavenly Sun Divine

Psalm 84:11 – For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor.

Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Matthew 4:16 – The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.

John 8:12 – When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Revelation 21:23 – The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

The Bible has much to say about darkness and light. Above are but a few examples. In fact, the entire narrative of Scripture can be accurately depicted as darkness being overcome by divine light. Written with that thought in mind, this very simple song asks God, like the sun, to shine brightly and faithfully in every season of the soul.
